The new SD SERIES of Low Frequency transducers is the result of two years of research and development by P.Audio. We at P.Audio are proud to introduce a line of transducers that represents the State of the Art for professional sound applications. PC OPERA 7.1, Finite Element Analysis, was used to design all SD SERIES motors. Both AC quasi-dynamic and DC static analysis was performed throughout the design phase of this project. All SD Series designs utilize three shorting rings in the motor assembly. These rings have several beneficial effects on transducer distortion and performance in general. Inductance modulation and flux modulation have been significantly reduced, resulting in distortion reduction. Self-inductance of the voice coil has also been significantly reduced, resulting in increased bandwidth. ABAQUS 5.8.1, Finite Element Analysis software was used to design the transducers suspension systems. Non-linear force verses deflection analyses along with non-linear stress analysis were performed on all spiders and surrounds. Additionally, non-linear buckling analysis was performed on all surrounds. ABAQUS 5.8.1 was also used to perform linear finite element analysis of the modal frequencies and modal shapes of the cones and dust caps. This enables us to optimize cone and dust cap geometry and thickness.
